Boat/Watercraft Insurance

We will find you the right boat insurance here at Greenville Insurance Advisors LLC that will protect you and your investment. If you own a boat and live in South Carolina and North Carolina, your number one priority is to protect it in the event of an accident.

Boat Insurance Requirements

Boat insurance is not legally required in South Carolina and North Carolina. However, it is imperative to obtain insurance. If you finance or lease your boat, your lender may require you to purchase insurance. Additionally, if you plan on keeping your boat at a marina, they may also ask for proof of insurance.

Boat Insurance Coverage

You can choose from any of the following to cover your boat and boating equipment:

  • Liability- This will provide coverage if you are at fault for an accident while on the water. This will pay for the repair or replacement expenses for the other boater in addition to any lost wages and medical expenses.
  • Medical payments- This will cover the cost of medical expenses related to injuries sustained from a boating accident. This covers you and your passengers.
  • Physical damage coverage- This will cover your boat's repair or replacement costs if it is damaged or anything attached to it permanently becomes damaged or stolen.
  • Uninsured/underinsured- This will protect you against a boater who is uninsured or underinsured if you are injured following an accident. This coverage pays for lost wages, medical expenses, and other expenses related to the accident.
  • Personal effects- This will protect your personal items on the boat, including jewelry, cell phones, clothing, etc.
